We're already into the second week of the New Year and I have yet to make any resolutions. Resolutions tend to be grandiose and grand and gross. Lofty ideas and unattainable goals are the best way to make you feel crappy about yourself quickly in the New Year.

One of Merriam-Webster’s definitions of "resolution" - not to sound too boring with a dictionary quotation - is "the act of analyzing a complex notion into a simpler one." That sounds like a good idea, so much so, that my New Year’s Resolution this year is to make resolutions.
The inability to rationally solve problems is the reason why I am constantly feeling overwhelmed. If I just practiced actually solving problems on a day to day basis, then the need for a New Year’s Resolution becomes defunct. Maybe the resolution to never have the need for New Year’s Resolution ever again is the right idea.
But maybe I’ll be back here again next year with the same resolution.
Another definition is "the separating of a chemical compound or mixture into its constituents." I resolve that I do not intend to resolve anything in this fashion in 2009.
